San Francisco neighborhoods for a couple

My fiancée and I are searching for a good neighborhood for a young (late 20s) couple without kids. We have a moderate budget, so nothing too upper class but something safe for sure. Please help us out!

Haight-Ashbury is always a favorite, or the Richmond District which may be slightly more affordable.
